Night School event, February 24th 2012

One of the many things I do alongside my work with Made By Katie Green is lecture in dance at University Campus Suffolk (UCS) in Ipswich. I've been working with second year UCS students to develop a new piece as part of their site-specific choreography module, and they will be performing that work as part of the NIGHT SCHOOL event at Ipswich Art School:

On Friday February 24th 2012, second year dance students from UCS will be performing their own choreography as part of:

NIGHT SCHOOL
Ipswich Art School (1 Upper High Street, Ipswich, IP1 3NE)
5.30-8pm (drop-in throughout the evening)

About the new dance work:

Tiger on the balcony, meercat on the stairs

Strange and playful patterns created by the dancers of UCS.

Drawing from the current Art School exhibitions by Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy (MBE) and Gareth Bayliss, the second year dancers from UCS have choreographed a short dance trail that moves around the gallery. Sampling movements from their own everyday rituals, the dancers create patterns that respond to some of the different spaces the gallery has to offer.

About NIGHT SCHOOL:

Experience the Ipswich Art School Galleries in new way during this evening of extracurricular happenings!

This evening’s programme will include temporary work around the displays including performance, music, spoken word and film as well as artist-led activities for everyone to get involved with.

This event is supported by Arts Council England.

Please contact katie.green@ucs.ac.uk if you would like to receive more detailed information about the timings of the dance performances on the 24th February.
